New Richmond, WI, April 13, 2024

Mid-summer like conditions greeted the traditional sprints of the Pirtek Renegades who returned to their home stomping grounds for the second event of the 2024 season at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Eighteen cars were on hand to qualify in a pair of heat races, with the Adams Estates/Kiki’s Salsa heat #1 going to Cam Schafer, while Jake Kouba nabbed the win in the James Ackerley Construction/Rapid Press heat race #2. Schafer bested all drivers amassing 130 passing points advancing from his seventh starting position to win his qualifier.

Brad Cunningham and Zach Nelson paced the field for the start of the Pirtek feature, with Cunningham scored as the leader after the first circuit. With five laps in the books, Schafer had taken over the top spot, leaving Jake Kouba and Cunningham dueling for runner-up ahead of Bryan Roach and Nelson. Keen spectators may have noted the #93 of Brad Petereson. Unable to complete his heat race due to a temperamental carburetor, “Surfin’ Safari” started 17th on the grid, and had surfed his way up to sixth by the crossed flags. A lap 15 caution bunched up the field with Schafer poised to score his second consecutive win, but Kouba wrestled away the top spot with three to go, and fended off myriad challenges from Schafer to secure his parking spot in Pirtek victory lane. Behind Kouba, it was Schafer, Roach, Peterson, and Zach Widdes rounding out the top five.

The Pirtek Renegades next event will be Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, when both the winged and traditional sprints descend on CLS as part of Cedar Lake’s Legendary Opener. 2023 RESULTS & RECAPS:

New Richmond, WI, September 14 - 16, 2023

The annual Legendary 100 kicked off on Thursday night with the opening round of preliminary features utilizing the unique Legendary 100 qualifying format at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Thursday night’s field saw 20 Pirtek Renegades traditional sprints take qualifying time along 24 winged sprints. Grand Rapids, Minnesota, chauffeur Ken Hron notched the top qualifying time of 15.309 for the traditional sprints placing the 46H on the pole for the feature.

Second starting Cam Schafer took home the opening night feature win in front of hard-charger Mike Mueller, Hron, Chris Lewis and Zach Widdes. For the wings, “The New Richmond Nightmare”, Chase Viebrock scored both the quickest lap with a 14.006 qualifying time as well as the feature win from the pole. Rounding out the top five for the wings on opening night were Jack Berger, Mark Chevalier, Owen Carlson, and Patrick Heikkinen.

The traditional field shrunk to 18 sprinters on Friday, while the winged contingent swelled to 27 competitors for the second night of preliminaries. In traditional qualifying, Brad Cunningham set quick time with a 14.562 second lap and a seat on the pole for the 18-lap feature.

Six days after scoring his first career Pirtek feature win, Chris Lewis parked his 5J in victory lane for the second time in a week at Cedar Lake. Chasing “The Joker” to the line were Cam Schafer, Ken Hron, Cunningham, and Zach Widdes. On the winged side of the ledger, it was Chase Viebrock setting quick time again, with a blistering 13.688 second lap to secure the pole start. At the double checkers on Friday, fifth starting Brady Donnohue was first to the stripe in front of Jack Berger, Viebrock, Mark Chevalier, and Brandon Allen.

With lineups for championship night determined by preliminary features, Cam Schafer was set to start championship night from the pole. However, Schafer was behind the wheel of Bryan Roach’s #99 mount - and series rules stipulate qualifying position is forfeited with a car change. That meant Schafer started in the last row for the 20-lap season finale, with Chris Lewis going from the catbird seat. Third starting Ken Hron led most of the way but Schafer and his borrowed hotrod steadily moved forward and with a handful of laps remaining, Schafer pushed his loaner ride to the front of the pack. At the double checkers, the winningest driver in series history was crowned the 2023 Legendary 100 champion. Rounding out the top five were Zach Widdes, Ken Hron, Jeremy Kerzman, and Chris Lewis.

A Pirtek Renegades feature with Chase Viebrock starting on the pole often times ends with the multi-time champion adding to his sticker collection - and that was the case with the Pirtek Renegades winged Legendary 100 championship as the New Richmond pilot notched yet another win on his impressive resume. Jack Berger closed out an impressive and consistent weekend with his third consecutive runner-up finish in front of Mark Chevalier, Patrick Heikkinen, and Mike Mueller.

The series’ points championships were also decided on Saturday with Rice Lake, Wisconsin, pilot Zach Widdes being crowned traditional sprint champ, while Chase Viebrock added another series championship to his trophy shelf for the wings.

The final event on the Pirtek Renegades calendar is the annual Arrive-and-Drive on Saturday afternoon, September 30, at Cedar Lake Speedway. New this year is an exhibition race that follows the afternoon arrive-and-drive sessions.

New Richmond, WI, September 9, 2023

With apologies to Thomas Paine…these are the times that try racers’ souls. On a night that Mother Nature proved to be persistently bothersome grit, guile, luck, daring, and skill would all be needed to conquer the evening. Cedar Lake track officials, with a healthy dose of assistance from the Pirtek Renegade teams, were twice able to reclaim the water-logged track from the elements.

Coupled with Job-like patience from the fans, the night into another memorable bit of lore that is the Jerry Richert Memorial. Twenty-six Renegade teams persevered through not one but two rain delays, with the first of three heat races finally seeing a green flag well past the nine o’clock hour.

Zach Widdes scored the win in Pirtek heat #1 that also saw the first of several rollovers on lightning fast, moisture-laden track - which claimed Cam Schafer as its initial Hoosiers up victim.

RTS Podcast heat #2 saw Jake Kouba snare checkers, while Brad Cunningham wrapped up Hoosier Tire heat #3.

Lucas Logue and Nick DaRonco set the pace for the 20-lap finale’, with DaRonco establishing his #8 ride at the point early and the 10z of Zach Widdes hot on his fuel cell. The lead duo were in a 2-car breakaway well ahead of “The Joker”, Chris Lewis, the Grand Rapids, MN, chauffeur and 9-time Northern Renegades winner. Another gap behind Lewis saw a beehive of action involving Logue, Jon “Ted Hitchcock” Lewerer, Jake Kouba, and Cam Schafer, who had quickly charged up from his eighth row starting spot. With the action starting to heat up in the battle for the lead, Widdes suddenly rolled to a stop in turn two, bringing out the caution.

Back under green, DaRonco was showing the strength that has led him to eight wins already this season and began to pull away again. But the moisture in the track resulted in a heavy berm forming in turn three, and DaRonco caught the ledge at precisely the wrong angle, and joined the list of the evening’s overturned racers. After inheriting the lead, Lewis was steady and fast, with an iron-grip on the top spot through a series of cautions - but Schafer was able to pick up positions on the multiple restarts.

For the final green-white-checkered finish, the #54 was in second, and ready to pounce. Under green, the slide job that Schafer had successfully used on prior restarts wasn’t enough to grab the top spot as The Joker throttled-stomped away the challenge. On the white flag lap, Schafer, who, remember, started the night upside-down, managed to muscle his way into the lead in turn two. Lewis, however, wasn’t willing to just relinquish what he’d held for nearly half the race and came right back underneath the multiple time series champion going down the back stretch. Working a lower groove, Lewis accomplished what very few have, he passed the winningest driver in Renegade series history in the final turn to claim his first career Pirtek Renegade double checkers. Lewerer was an impressive third in his first action of the season, with Brad Cunningham and Jake Kouba rounding out the top five.

The last official event for the Pirtek Renegades is the annual Legendary 100 this Thursday through Saturday at Cedar Lake.

The season wraps up two weeks later at CLS with the annual Arrive-and-Drive on Saturday afternoon, September 30, followed by an exhibition race that evening. New Richmond, WI - August 26, 2023

After nearly a month away from home, the traditional sprints of the Pirtek Renegades returned to Cedar Lake Speedway on a temperate late summer evening for a night of action on the high banks.

Twenty two teams signed in at the back gate to battle in three qualifying heat races.

Pirtek heat 1 saw the visiting Northern Renegade chauffeur Ken Hron claim the win, while Cam Schafer continued his red hot summer with the Renegades in wrapping up RTS Podcast heat 2. Hoosier Tire heat 3 went to the Britt, Minnesota, hot shoe Nick DaRonco.

Schafer led all competitors with an impressive 153 passing points. Johnny Parsons III and Jake Kouba redrew the front row for the 20-lap finale, with the #6 of Kouba squirting to the point early.

Just two laps in, the third row of Nick DaRonco and Cam Schafer were already up to third and fourth, behind Kouba and Jori Hughes. After a lap six caution, the top four of Kouba, DaRonco, Schafer and Hughes started to break away from the rest of the field with DaRonco and Schafer locking horns in a real slobber-knocker of a battle for second.

With only five laps remaining, Schafer finally emerged solidly into the runner-up position and set sail for Kouba. Schafer threw a slide job at Kouba in turn two with two laps to go, taking over the top spot.

At the double checkers, it was Schafer claiming his sixth Pirtek Renegade victory of the summer - in only seven events with the series. Kouba crossed the stripe in second in front of DaRonco and Hughes. Zach Widdes charged up seven positions from twelfth to round out the top five.

Next up for the Renegades is an opportunity to head west for the long Labor Day weekend and compete with the Western Renegades at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Friday, September 1. Then on Saturday and Sunday, the teams venture even further west, to Crary, ND, and the Devils Lake Speedway for the annual North Dakota Non-Wing Nationals.

The next Renegade home game is set for the following weekend, September 9, when the traditionals are part of the annual Jerry Richert celebration at Cedar Lake. New Richmond, WI and Jackson, August 20, 2023

It was another weekend of far flung racing for the Pirtek Renegades on Saturday, with the traditional sprints taking part in the Jackson Nationals while their winged counterparts enjoyed an evening of home cooking at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Down Jackson way, the 16 traditional teams qualified in two heats. Pirtek heat 1 went to the 3k of Jeremy Kerzman and RTS Podcast heat 2 was claimed by Brad Cunningham.

For the wings, Pirtek heat 1 saw the 03 of Jamey Ogston first to the stripe. Chase Viebrock won RTS Podcast heat 2 while Hoosier Tire heat 3 saw the O7 of Owen Carlson take the win.

In feature racing action for the traditionals, the front row of Cam Schafer and Jeremy Kerzman engaged in a race-long battle that saw Schafer collect his 5th UMSS sticker of the summer in only six events. Behind Kerzman, Brad Cunningham, Jake Kouba, and Zach Widdes rounded the top five.

At Cedar Lake, pole starter Owen Carlson held the early lead until a restart penalty handed the lead to a hard charging Chase Viebrock. Viebrock extended his lead until very late when Luke Nellis and Carlson both began reeling in the leader, and Nellis within striking distance on the white flag lap. At the double checkers, it was Viebrock holding strong to claim win number six on the season in front of Nellis, Carlson, Mike Mueller, and Jack Berger.

The Renegades return to action next Saturday, August 26, when the traditional sprints are back at their home track of Cedar Lake Speedway. More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

New Richmond, WI, July 29, 2023

After an off week due to wet weather, both the traditional and winged Pirtek Renegade sprints descended on Cedar Lake Speedway for a night of competition under near perfect summer racing conditions.

Fifteen traditional sprints checked in the back gate, while a whopping 30 wings signed in to close out the month of July. In heat race competition, for the traditional sprints, Pirtek heat 1 went to Cam Schafer and RTS Podcast heat 2 went to Mike Mueller. In winged competition, the Pirtek heat race went to Brad Peterson, while RTS Podcast heat 2 was claimed by Ronnie Erickson. Chase Viebrock picked up Hoosier Tire heat 3 victory.

The first of the finales was the traditional sprints, where Mackenzie Bjorklund and Jake Kouba redrew the front row and Kouba shot to the point early. On lap two, Cam Schafer squeezed under Kouba to take over the lead - then turned on the after-burners, immediately stretching his advantage. Chasing Schafer were Kouba, Dan Atchison, Mike Mueller, and Mark Chevalier. After a crash in his heat race, Nick DaRonco had to start 14th in the 15-car field, and he quickly cracked the whip. Without the benefit of a caution, DaRonco was up to seventh by the crossed flags and broke into the top five a few laps later. Out front, Schafer was off racing in his own ZIP code and went on to claim his fourth Pirtek sticker of the summer, and third in a row. Rounding out the top five were Kouba, Mueller, DaRonco, and Atchison.

For the winged feature, it was Mark Chevalier and Chase Viebrock leading the 24-car field to green with Viebrock taking the early lead. By the second circuit, Chevalier took over the top spot, with Viebrock, Jack Berger, Ronnie Erickson, and Brad Peterson in pursuit. At the crossed flags Berger began to pressure Chevalier for the lead, and with nine to go, Berger made the pass for the top spot. A caution with 5 laps remaining re-bunched the field. Back under green, Chevalier mounted a quick challenge before Berger began to stretch his advantage again. At the double checkers it was Berger claiming his first Pirtek Renegade feature of the summer in front of Chevalier, Brett Peterson (from 16th!), Erickson, and Peterson.

The Renegades have a short respite before their next event, with the traditionals waiting until Saturday, August 19, before traveling to the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, MN, as part of the 45th annual Jackson Nationals The wings lock horns that same night at their home track of Cedar Lake Speedway. More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

New Richmond, WI, July 15, 2023

The traditional sprints of the Pirtek Renegades were back in action at their home track, Cedar Lake Speedway, on Saturday night. Seventeen teams checked in the back gate to do battle in a pair of heats.

Pirtek heat #1 went to Cam Schafer and RTS Podcast heat #2 was claimed by “Surfin’ Safari” Brad Peterson. Nick DaRonco led all drivers with a whopping 146 points, coming from seventh to second in the first heat.

For the 20-lap main event, it was Brad Peterson and Bryan Roach on the front row, with Peterson taking the point early, chased by Roach, Cam Schafer, Zach Widdes, and Nick DaRonco. By lap five, Schafer was in the lead and he immediately began to pull away. Peterson continued to run second while DaRonco, Widdes, and Roach were slugging it out in a real donnybrook for third. With eleven circuits remaining, DaRonco finally emerged from the 3-car tussle and started to pressure Peterson. With Schafer off racing in his own ZIP code, Peterson and DaRonco were locking horns in fierce duel for second amidst heavy lapped traffic. A late caution cleared the traffic but Schafer proved the #54 was best on the night and went on to capture his second feature win in as many nights, and third of the season. DaRonco finally managed to sweep around Peterson on the final turn to claim second. Bryan Roach and a late charging Jori Hughes rounded out the top five.

Next up for the Renegades, both the wings and traditionals travel to Menomonie, Wisconsin, to the Thunder Hill Speedway for Thursday Night Thunder #2 on July 20. Fountain City, WI, July 14, 2023

A hot, sticky afternoon and a threatening forecast couldn’t keep 16 intrepid Pirtek Renegades traditional sprint racers from making the Friday afternoon tow to Fountain City, Wisconsin, and the Renegades first ever visit to the Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

Nick DaRonco snared checkers in the Pirtek heat race #1, while Zach Widdes continued his trend of piling up heat race wins in the RTS Podcast heat #2.

Cam Schafer bested the field with 139 passing points, moving up from eighth to finish third in the first qualifier. The 2c of Brad Cunningham redrew the pole to for the feature with the #99 of Bryan Roach drawing the #2 pill. New Richmond, WI, June 30, 2023

The Pirtek Renegades kicked off the Independence Day holiday celebration supporting the World of Outlaws annual visit to the legendary high banks of Cedar Lake Speedway. Twenty-five traditional sprint teams checked in on a hot, muggy evening - qualifying in three heats.

Pirtek heat #1 was claimed by Brad Cunningham, while RTS Podcast heat #2 went to Zach Widdes. The Hoosier Tire heat #3 was won by Nick DaRonco and Mike Mueller racked up a whopping 141 passing points to lead all drivers, coming from sixth to second in the first qualifier.

The front row for the 20-lap finale had a northern flavor, with “The Joker” Chris Lewis from Grand Rapids, MN on the pole and Tower, MN pilot Jori Hughes to Lewis’ right side. At the drop of the green it was Lewis leading the way in front of Hughes, Ken Hron, DaRonco, and Widdes. It took just three laps for the #8 of DaRonco to find the front - but once he got there - it was no cake walk. In the last half of the race, Widdes and Lewis both applied heavy pressure to the Britt, MN chauffeur. At the double checkers, it was DaRonco claiming his fifth sticker of the summer, and third in a row. Lewis finished second ahead of Widdes, Mike Mueller, and Brad Peterson.

The winged Pirtek Renegades are on tap to wrap up Outlaw weekend at Cedar Lake on Saturday, July 1. More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

West Union, IA, and Jim Falls, WI, June 23, 2023

The Pirtek Renegades split their dance card on Friday night with traditionals making a return visit to Eagle Valley Speedway in northern Wisconsin while the wings were nearly 200 miles south, in West Union, Iowa. Ten traditionals signed in at EVS, while the winged ranks grew by two from Thursday night with twelve wingers racing at Fayette County Speedway.

For the traditionals, Zach Widdes claimed Pirtek heat #1 with a track high 138 passing points and Bryan Roach nabbed checkers in RTS Podcast heat #2. Down south, both winners came from the outside of the front row as Luke Nellis, and last night's winner Chase Viebrock, won the qualifiers.

Nick DaRonco and Zach Widdes redrew the front row for the main event in Jim Falls, and that duo paced the field the entire way. DaRonco shot to the point and stayed there, while Widdes emptied his bag of tricks trying to keep pace with the red hot chauffeur from Britt, MN. At the double checkers it was DaRonco claiming his fourth sticker in only five events this summer. Widdes, Chris Lewis, Ken Hron, and Lucas Logue filled out the rest of the top five.

Meanwhile, down Iowa way, it was Brett Peterson and Patrick Heikkinen bringing the 12-car field to green with Heikkinen grabbing the point early. Once the Eveleth, MN, pilot found his groove, there was no catching him as the #13 nabbed his first feature win of the summer. Fourth starting Luke Nellis crossed the stripe in second, followed by Chase Viebrock, Mike Mueller, and Jack Berger.

With the winged weekend wrapped up, the traditionals return to their home track of Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday to round out their week. The following week, the traditionals join the World of Outlaws at CLS on Friday, June 30, with the wings providing WoO support the following night, Saturday, July 1, as part of Cedar Lake’s annual WoO/Independence Day festivities.More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

New Richmond, WI, June 10, 2023

The winged sprints of the Pirtek Renegades were back home at Cedar Lake Speedway for the track’s Kids’ Night celebration on Saturday. Twenty-seven winged warriors checked in to compete at the legendary high banks in three heat races.

Jack Berger started the night off by winning the Pirtek heat race, while the RTS Podcast and Hoosier Tire qualifiers went to Mark Chevalier and Jeremy Kerzman, respectively. Kerzman also led all drivers with 143 passing points.

Chevalier and Jamey Ogston redrew the front row for the main event, and it was the P1 of Chevalier showing the fast way around the track followed by Ogston, Brad Peterson, Chase Viebrock, and Casey Lang. After a caution on lap seven, Ogston got the jump on Chevalier and took over the top spot, but Chevalier charged right back to reclaim the lead by the flagstand.

Another restart saw Brady Donnohue, who started in the seventh row, power his way past Chevalier - leaving the P1 to battle Viebrock for second. At the double checkers it was Donnohue collecting his first sticker of the summer in front of Chevalier, Viebrock, Berger, and Peterson.

Next up for the Pirtek Renegades is a road trip to northern Wisconsin and the Rice Lake Speedway for both the winged and traditional sprinters on Saturday, June 17. More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

New Richmond, WI, June 3, 2023

The traditional sprints of the Pirtek Renegades were back home at Cedar Lake Speedway for CLS Dash Race #5 on Saturday. Nineteen sprinters checked in on a sweltering early summer evening, with heat race wins going to the pole starters.

Jake Kouba carded the win in Pirtek heat race 1, while Cam Schafer grabbed checkers in RTS Podcast heat two. The red hot Nick DaRonco moved up from sixth to second in heat two to lead all drivers with 141 passing points.

The heat race winners redrew the front row for the finale, with Kouba on the pole for the 20-lapper. Coming to green, Kouba lost power, necessitating a criss-crossing of the field and a restart. Once the racing was under way, Schafer surprised no one in staking an early claim to the lead, chased by third-starting DaRonco and Scott Brandt. With seven laps scored, DaRonco’s very low groove proved to have enough speed to overtake the top spot, at which point Schafer headed up to his familiar haunts and started throttle stomping the cushion. By the crossed flags, Schafer was back in the lead. Schafer’s high groove proved faster in turns one and two, while DaRonco’s #8 was faster down low through turns three and four. That set up a dynamic resulting in five lead changes in five laps as the duo deftly worked their respective lines. With a handful of laps remaining, DaRonco had just enough contact with a lapped car to upset the handling on his hot rod, allowing Schafer to start pulling a gap. Schafer cruised to the win in his 2023 Renegade debut, while DaRonco masterfully muscled his ill-handling mount to hold on to the runner-up spot. Brandt rode home in third in front of Zach Widdes and hard charging Erik Bjorklund, who gained a field best six positions to round out the top five.

The Pirtek Renegades of the winged variety return to Cedar Lake next Saturday, June 10, as part of CLS’s Kids Night celebration. More information on upcoming events for the Pirtek Renegades, as well as links to other Renegades series, can be found at www.umsprints.com, or on facebook.

Ashland, WI and New Richmond, WI, May 27, 2023

The Pirtek Renegades traveled divergent paths on Saturday, as the winged sprints traveled north to Ashland, WI, while the traditional sprints headed to their home track of Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond for their second event in as many days in observance of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

At ABC Raceway, Chase Viebrock and John Breitenfeldt scored the heat race wins, while Johnny Parsons III and Brad Cunningham won their respective qualifiers at Cedar Lake. In feature competition for the wings, Jamey Ogston and Mike Mueller paced the field to green and prior champ Mueller showed the fast way around the ⅜ mile red clay, ahead of a field full of slicing and dicing.

Friday night winner Mark Chevalier was charging up from fifth while Patrick Heikkinen was working the field from his fifth row spot. After a restart on lap 13, Viebrock got alongside Mueller and the pair dueled for a lap before “The New Richmond Nightmare” wrested the lead away from Mueller. Viebrock raced on to his second win of the season in front of Mueller, Chevalier, Eric Wilke, and Heikkinen.

Meanwhile, back at the home front, the heat race winners redrew the front of the 14-car field for the main event with Parsons setting the pace early in front of Cunningham, Nick DaRonco, and Lucas Logue. With five laps in the books, DaRonco worked under Cunningham, and a few laps later swept around Parsons to take over the point. Zach Widdes was making hay, as well, leaving his early battle with Brad Peterson and methodically slicing forward.

As impressive as Widdes’ march forward was, there was no catching DaRonco who eventually won by a straightaway over Widdes, Parsons, Logue, and Peterson.

The Pirtek Renegades are back in action on Saturday, June 3, when the traditionals return to CLS. The wings and traditionals pair up again the following Saturday, June 10, also at Cedar Lake. Jim Falls, WI, May 26, 2023

The Pirtek Renegades kicked off their observance of Memorial Day weekend at Eagle Valley Speedway on Friday, with ten traditional sprints and 16 winged racers making the tow east to Jim Falls, WI. Nick DaRonco started the event with a win in the first heat of the night for the traditionals, while Rice Lake hot shoe Zach Widdes snared the win in heat two. DaRonco was top passing points earner with 138. On the winged side, Patrick Heikkinen and Brady Donnohue scored the heat wins, with Donnohue besting the field amassing 143 passing points. Feature racing kicked off with Mike Mueller redrawing the pole for the traditionals and Widdes to his outside.

Right from the get-go, the sixth starting Britt, MN chauffeur, Nick DaRonco, smashed the loud pedal and marched forward. DaRonco wasted little time in getting to the front and cruised home for the clean-sweep win. Widdes rode home in second, ahead of Mueller, Brad Cunningham, and Joshua Hulberg.

After a rough start to his season a week ago, Mark Chevalier started the winged feature from the catbird’s seat with Heikkinen to his right flank. At the drop of the green, Chevalier shot his #P1 mount to the point, while sixth starting Jack Berger and eighth starting Chase Viebrock began their charges forward.

At the double checkers, it was a flag-to-flag win for Chevalier, chased by Berger, Viebrock, Heikkinen, and Donnohue. The Pirtek Renegades part ways for Saturday, with the wings heading north to ABC Raceway in Ashland, WI, while the traditionals head to Cedar Lake for their home opener. LATEST RESULTS - ABOUT THE UMSS - OUR BRAND - WANT TO RACE? - OUR UMSS TEAM

AND.... THAT'S A WRAP!!!!

The 2022 PIRTEK Upper Midwest Sprint Car Season has come to end with three great days of racing featuring both our Wing and Non Wing classes at Cedar Lake Speedway for the Legendary 100.

The announcement was made about the future of the series and new ownership. We are looking forward to this great transition over the off season.

We are currently opening up the doors to new marketing partners for the 2023 season and have those opportunities in the works.

We have so many things to work on during this off season, one of those including the 2023 UMSS Kick Off Party. This tradition started at the beginning of this season and we thought it was a success. It was a great opportunity for drivers and teams to catch up, break up the LONG off season and also meet new incoming teams and drivers.

As always, please feel free to reach out to any of us with any questions/concerns/updates and keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) for updates.

ABOUT THE UMSS - GET INVOLVED!

Built on the foundation of the past with a focus to the future, the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series (UMSS) and its Renegades Racing Brand diminishes the influence of “the almighty dollar” and returns the emphasis to driver skill and nerve while fostering a culture of inclusion and support among all participants and their families.

“Am I the only one who thinks the UMSS Traditional Sprint Car Series is the best kept secret in open wheel racing?” This quote from the late Bryan Gapinski was published in a national trade magazine toward the beginning of our journey. No longer are we the best kept secret. The UMSS is in high demand and the brand that is based off the series – the Renegades Racing Brand – has multiple series with well over 100 teams competing.

What started with four cars in 2011, now encompasses multiple series and well over 100 teams. We are the fastest growing sprint car organization in the country. The Renegades Racing Brand provides a sustainable set of rules and a culture that allows the average person with a family, job and mortgage to fulfill their dream of driving a sprint car. For between $8,000-$10,000, and sometimes less, you can build or buy a competitive, safe car and live your dream on the track. Compare the cost of a Renegades Racing sprint car to local street stocks that cost $25,000-$30,000 to be competitive. In addition, our “flat” purse (no points or point fund strategies), creates a culture of inclusion unlike any other in the sport.

OUR BRANDS

In addition to the UMSS, here are the current Renegades Series within our brand:

• Mid-American Renegades (MARS)

• Northern Renegades (NRSS)

• Western Renegades (WRSS)

• Rocky Mountain Renegades

Please check out the Renegade series in your region - and if you are able to attend one of our events, you'll see why our series is growing so quickly!

WANT TO OWN A SERIES?!

We can show you how! The strategies that the Renegades Racing Brand has put in place for its participants – that allow the racer to have fun, be competitive and not spent their last dollar – allow the series owner more enjoyment.

In addition, strategies for the series and the culture that is created amongst the teams will allow you, as the owner, to enjoy the satisfaction of building the series from the ground up.

The Renegades Racing Brand supports the series owner for free (yes, free). Your investment will include building a car for between $8,000-$10,000 (less if you already have the car or engine parts) and the cost of creating your own LLC.

A phone call to Ron Bernhagen (612-363-5302) or Caley Emerson (218-398-7807) costs you nothing to get more information.
